Centennial Scholar Research on Oxygenation and Ventilation

As the 2021 APTA Centennial Scholar sponsored by the APTA Academy of Cardiovascular & Pulmonary Physical Therapy, I have been approved and supported by the Academy to investigate practice regarding oxygenation and ventilation. In coordination with an Academy task force, we are requesting your assistance with a study conducted by researchers in the field of physical therapy at Duke University, California State University Long Beach, and Western University of Health Sciences-Oregon. The objectives of this study are to explore Physical Therapist (PT) perceptions and competence in performing strategies to improve oxygenation and ventilation in practice.  We will be comparing perceptions and competence in performing these strategies between PTs who are Board-Certified Clinical Specialists in Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Physical Therapy and those who are not.  To qualify for participation, the below criteria must be met:

  • you must be a Physical Therapist with a valid and current license to practice in the United States

The survey will take you approximately 10-15 minutes to complete.  The survey will remain open for 60 days from the initial date it was sent.  We will resend or repost the link every three weeks.  This study is anonymous, and the researchers have pledged to keep your data confidential and only to report aggregated results in any published scientific manuscript or presentation.  The Survey is now closed

Participation in this study is voluntary and you may withdraw from participation at any time. If you have any questions, you may contact the principal investigator:
